Nathalie Gonzalez-Prieto

Welcome to my personal page! 

I’m an economist at the World Bank's Office of the Chief Economist for Latin America and the Caribbean. I completed my PhD in Economics at the University of Maryland in 2023. Prior to my Ph.D., I worked at the Research Department of the IMF and the World Bank Chief economist office for LAC. Before moving to the U.S., I completed my undergraduate and master's degree in economics at la Universidad de Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia.

I’m currently working on a regional study on informality in Latin America and the Caribbean. My objective in this project is to bring together different perspectives on informality, assess the latest trends and challenges, identify successful policies in the region, and provide concrete recommendations to policy makers. 

Other research projects I’m working on are related to migration decisions in response to economic shocks, the effect of labor market policies during COVID, and the effect of firms' age on workers earnings dynamics.
